"a growing body of research in psychology and neuroscience suggests that believing in meritocracy makes people more selfish, less self-critical and even more prone to acting in discriminatory ways. Meritocracy is not only wrong; it’s bad."

“Property crime data reported by police excludes most property crime, including wage theft ($50 billion per year, 3x more than all police-reported property crime), and tax evasion, which steals $1 trillion/year (63x times more than all police-reported property crime combined).”

Breaking news: The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled today that boycotts are not protected by the First Amendment. @ACLU has confirmed it'll take the case to the Supreme Court, with huge implications for free speech in America.🧵

One of our contributors was recently issued a retaliatory ticket by the NYPD for their participation in our project. We are seeking pro bono counsel to discuss how we can best protect them and their efforts in light of this escalation.

If you think you can help, please DM us.

Daily Harvest still hasn’t posted on their socials that their lentil crumbles are sending ppl to the ER, nearly killing them and in some cases causing organ removal!!! It’s just a ✨link in bio✨

The first 90-or-so minutes of every day are anxiety management time. We shower and make coffee and we organize the looming deadlines into little checkboxes and watch our little YouTube stories and then move onward to The Great Uncertainty that is our day.

as we learn more details about more ways police misled the public about Uvalde, remember: the vast majority of claims about individual crimes/police interactions that appear in media are based completely on the unconfirmed and uninterrogated word of unnamed police spokespeople

Dear Rick,

Crime today in 2022 is higher than it was in 2020 but ALSO similar to 2019 and LOWER than 2018 & 2017.

FYI, LAPD's budget increased by $68M last fiscal year & crime still rose. The ONE YEAR that LAPD's budget decreased $16M, crime went down.
